Correct TV borders

Return to chapter overview

When playing the DVD or Blu-ray, black borders are visible or the movie is cropped on the sides.

Solution steps:

1.Does the aspect ratio of the project match the aspect ratio of the output?
Under Project > Settings > Main settings you set the aspect ratio for your project. This should be based on the intended playback aspect ratio. So, for a 16:9 TV, a 16:9 project should be created and a 16:9 DVD should be output. Check that you have selected a consistent aspect ratio. See also Aspect ratio
When creating a DVD with a menu, you should also set the aspect ratio that matches the project in the DVD menu tab of the Menu Wizard.

2.TV border correction active?
Some TVs cut off the borders of the film. How much this happens varies from device to device. To make the full picture visible, the Video Wizard can reduce the picture. In the Video Wizard you will find the option Correct TV borders for this purpose. Check whether this is active and whether any unsuitable values have been selected.

3.Check settings of the TV
Check the operating instructions of your TV to see if there are corresponding setting options for media whose aspect ratio does not match the aspect ratio of the TV.
